Rufus and Chaka Khan have nothing to worry about as regards Felix Jaehn’s reimagining of their eighties classic. It functions perfectly well, but it doesn’t have the spark that made the original so good. See, the biggest problem the remake has is it’s just too gentle. Fight Song, meanwhile, is exactly the sort of inspirational call-to-action song that gets played during the montage videos that accompany the closing ceremonies for major sporting events. Not brilliant, not terrible, it just… well… exists.

I didn’t have high hopes for Cool For The Summer – well, it’s been released just in time for the autumn for a start – but it’s a lot better than it really has any right to be. If I have a complaint about it, it’s that I can’t shake the feeling that there’s an even better song in there trying to get out. Wait a minute… how is Justin Bieber releasing a song as good as What Do You Mean? Have I fallen into a parallel universe or something? Must be a fluke. Yeah, that’s what it is. A fluke. It’d be a better song if the annoying ticking noise wasn’t there, but you can’t win ’em all.

Galantis’s latest is nearly very good, but falls a bit short, and Easy Love uses vocals done in the style of Michael Jackson from when he did ABC, andĀ is very good. Not a bad end to the month, all told.
