DON’T STOP
5 Seconds of Summer

Beating Heart… yeah, it’s all right as far as it goes, I just feel it could’ve gone a bit further. Dunno about Jubel, it sounds like a really long intro for a song that never really starts properly… come to think of it, that also goes for I Wanna Feel.

Wiggle is really, really silly and really not worth the time I spent listening to it. Well, it’s taken five songs but I’ve finally found something decent – thank heavens for Sing.

It’s not the greatest song ever (it’s basically a pre-match team talk with a musical accompaniment), but as a tribute to the late Rik Mayall (and it still feels strange saying that) it does the job and gets him another Top Ten single. Salute’s OKish without pulling up any trees, whereas Wasted represents a slight improvement on Tiesto’s last single. Even so, generally speaking this month’s not been that inspiring so far… oh wait, Ghost is a cracking tune. More like this, ta.

Oh, it’s been a while since I last saw a really good bit of product placement for the humble Mini, so thanks for sorting that out, Gorgon City. Also, considering the band’s name it seems appropriate that the video’s packed with stone statues. Decent song too. Budapest originally got to No.72 at the back end of 2013, and I have no idea what propelled it into the Top Ten with such breathtaking force a full seven months later, but it’s a pleasant song without being tedious and that is not an easy trick to pull off. Finally, please stop, 5 Seconds of Summer. It’s not that they’re terrible musicians, they’re not, it’s just that Busted were doing this sort of thing 10 years ago (albeit a lot less maturely) and I was rather hoping we’d moved on from that.
