Lady Gaga’s here; don’t blame me, I’ve never bought her music. What’s more, she’s bringing her “dressed by a Blue Peter competition winner” approach to fashion with her. The song’s not bad, though.

I haven’t heard Let It Rock since it was in the chart, but it somehow sounds better now than it did back then. I’m still not convinced that the rap bits are entirely (or at all) necessary, mind you. Single Ladies is utterly ridiculous. If Beyonce’s record label bosses didn’t laugh out loud when she first played it to them, followed by a growing sense of horror as they realised she was serious, then I’d be amazed. Next up, Issues, in which the Saturdays wander about on a beach or pose in various positions within the cosy confines of a country house, chirping some non-entity of a ballad.

Up to now, Girls Aloud had a 100% strike rate as far as reaching the Top Ten was concerned. Every “proper” single they’d put out (remember, B-sides and album tracks can get in the chart now) had done its job, but it was a close run thing with The Loving Kind – it started out at No.38 in Christmas week and only briefly brushed the bottom end of the Top Ten before dropping down the list again. They’ve done far better than that with far worse songs than this, which just goes to show how unfair the singles chart can be. Bloody hell, Day ‘N’ Nite’s repetitive though, isn’t it?

Heartless is BORING, and yes, it does deserve capital letters, but Sober is much more like it. P!nk’s done good here. As for Take Me Back… it’s not awful, but I don’t suppose there’s any way to hear it sans AutoTune, is there?
