Savage Garden savaged.

I KNEW I LOVED YOU

Savage Garden

This horrible, foul, pathetic rotter of a kiddiepop ballad is so amazingly like every other kiddiepop ballad that’s out there I think it shows what a cheek these record companies have by throwing the same song at us time and time again. So, I have a suggestion for you. If you must buy this single and decide it’s rubbish (and if you’re over 10 years old chances are you will), then why not cut the offensive article into little tiny pieces? Voila! A jigsaw! Well, it’s sure to be more fun than actually listening to it.

THE GREAT BEYOND

REM

Exclusive! Exclusive! You read it here first! Now then, as I recall, Up wasn’t very good. No, it was worse than that. Anyway, it was dull, drab and sounded like the band couldn’t be bothered. This, on the other hand, is almost a complete return to form. It sounds a bit reminiscent of the Automatic For The People-era REM, down, moody, depressed, but not bad to listen to despite and because of all that. It’s not perfect by any means, but it could be they’ve turned a corner and have now decided to be good again. I do hope so, because somebody needs to give the likes of Semisonic and Barenaked Ladies a damn good hiding and it somehow seems fitting that Mr Stipe and friends should dish it out.

BLUE MONDAY

Orgy

It’s only available on import and no, I’ve never heard of Orgy either. I know Blue Monday though and that’s why I sat down and listened to this. If you ever wanted an idea of how Marylin Manson would sound if he covered a club classic, this is it and it’s worth your time. If you didn’t, that’s not my fault.
