Tin Tin Out - why?
XLIX - 1 August 1999
ELEVEN TO FLY
Tin Tin Out featuring Wendy Page

My goodness, this is tepid. When you consider that Tin Tin Out were once capable of filling dancefloors with tunes like Always Something There To Remind Me, the only thing this sad, anaemic little donkey is going to fill is sickbags. Really, it's that bad. The whole thing sounds like a song the Lighthouse Family rejected for being too middle-of-the-road and poor Wendy, well, you've just got to feel sorry for her for being associated with this shambles. This is drab, boring, shallow, forgettable and irritating and it's probably going to hit the Top 20 without any trouble at all. Such is life.
DOGMONAUT 2000
Frigid Vinegar

This is turning into a very bad week. So they're from Milton Keynes. That doesn't necessarily mean this song's any good, which is a lucky thing really, because it isn't. It sounds like a standard-issue drum'n'bass effort with kerazee! lyrics that was recorded by two mates in someone's bedroom with the music pumping out of an Amiga 1200. Hopefully, they'll make some money out of this and be able to make a real record.
OH JIM
Gay Dad

There's really not much to say about this. This is the Obligatory Ballad Single TM that you knew was going to come. It's neither brilliant nor appalling, it's just plain dull. Maybe if we ignore it, it'll go away.
10TH ANNIVERSARY BOX SET
Blur (box set)

Just when I was about to write this week off as a loss, I finally hear about something good. That's right. All 22 singles. In a box. Lovely. There's No Other Way, Popscene, Girls & Boys, Country House, Song 2, the lot. I'm warning you now just so you can save up for it for when it's out in September. See? It's not all bad news!
