Christmas Special I.
XVIII - 20 December 1998
Right, erm, how shall I explain this? Well, basically nobody's releasing anything this week. For a music reviewer this sort of thing can be very annoying, but I'm not going to let it get me down. Instead, for one week only (I hope), here's a few things, old and new, that you may be thinking of getting for Auntie Edith as that last-minute Chrimble alternative to jumpers. Sadly, bands of the calibre of Rogue Soul and 93 Feet miss out this time, but despite this setback I still found space for this lot. Ho ho ho and all that.
MY HEART WILL GO ON
Celine Dion

Deleted. No longer available. Can't get it anywhere. Gone forever. Not available in any shops. There, I think that covers it. Apart from the fact that it's on the B-Side of her duet with R Kelly. Oh well.
YOU'RE STILL THE ONE
Shania Twain

Also deleted. Also no longer available. Also on the B-Side of her current single. That'll please Andrew Lloyd Webber.
BELIEVE
Cher

Safe, inoffensive and out-radio-friendlying the Lighthouse Family it may be, but it was worth having it at Number One just to see a 50 year old bouncing around on Top Of The Pops in a shellsuit.
THE SINGLES 86>98
Depeche Mode (album)

Even more essential than the gift of life itself. I shall say no more.
NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL MUSIC! 41
Various (album)

You know what to expect by now with this compilation. You also know that one of these rotating aluminium beings will find its way under your tree.
BROTHERHOOD
New Order (album)

An old album it may be, but if you've been waiting patiently like me for the Recycle box set only to discover it's been delayed yet again, then this will do just nicely for now. Maybe next year...
