Australian Driving Rock.

I WANT YOU

Savage Garden

All around the country, people point at Savage Garden on the telly and chant "Are you Roxette in disguise?" On this evidence, the answer is a resounding Yes. Fair enough, it’s a re-issue of their first single (No.11, May 1997, fact fans), but it’s the only thing they’ve done that hasn’t troubled the Top 10 yet. Once it does, they have the set and can start building houses and hotels and start charging exorbitant rental charges and stuff. Luckily for all of us, however, this is miles better than the slow typically Australian driving rock they’ve treated us to lately (think late INXS, then think Angry Anderson, then please think of something nice) as it’s really quite jolly. Still sounds like The Look by Roxette though.

SHE WANTS YOU

Billie

Billie (noun) – 1. a young girl incapable of walking down the street without breaking into a spontaneous song and dance routine a la The Kids From Fame; 2. a person adored by people even younger than herself; 3. a guarantee of going straight to number one and then going down the lists faster than Manchester City.

She Wants You (noun) – 1. standard formulaic pop song designed to encourage children to tune in to the radio, where other songs of a similar ilk may be located; 2. of course it’ll be a hit.

SINGLES COLLECTION BOX SET

Massive Attack (box set)

This is how a box set should be done. No messing about with releasing one when you’ve only released a couple of things ever, why not wait until you’ve given yourself a staggeringly large back catalogue of rare things and remixes and then release the whole damn lot in one go? Let’s face it, 63 tracks, a rather amazing box to sit them in, music that could make any sane person weep (for various reasons), you will know where that £70 went.
