SCREAM IF YOU WANNA GO FASTER

Geri Halliwell

Geri Halliwell is a model of consistency. It doesn’t matter whether she’s festively plump or slimmer than Manchester United’s chances of getting relegated next season, her songs are always huge hits regardless of the quality. Interesting that, seeing as they also get released regardless of the quality. Funny old world, innit? To be fair, this isn’t as bad as some she’s released, although it’s missing that certain spark required to make it interesting. Still, if you like sixties-influenced guitar pop (not me) it’ll pass the time in a filling-in-a-crossword-whilst-watching-Countdown kind of way.

LITTLE L

Jamiroquai

What the hell’s happened here then? It very much looks like Jamiroquai have out Daft Punked Daft Punk. Everything you need to make a Daft Punk record is here, from the eighties beats down to the strange blippy noises, but it’s merged with the traditional jazz-funk-soul-whatever-the-heck-it-is Jamiroquai sound. It’s merged pretty damned well too. I’ve never been a big fan of theirs, but they have shown some big improvements lately and this continues it. This may revisit their usual style (unlike say, Supersonic), but it’s approached it from a different angle and I’m all for that.
